hrstack is a free guide to HR software. You can use it without an account, and we collect as little as we can. This page explains what we do collect, why, and how to have it deleted.
hrstack is run by Prasaanth, an HR professional based in Chennai, India. For any privacy question or request, email prasad.annauniv@gmail.com.
What we collect, and why
- Your stack answers. Your answers in "Build my stack" (company size, countries, tools, needs) are kept in your own browser, not on our servers. They are stored on our servers only if you create a share link, and then without your name or email.
- What you type in the chat. Typed answers and questions are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to understand them and reply. We don't store them. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, they aren't used to train its models.
- Ratings. If you rate a tool, we use your email once to send a confirmation link. We keep a scrambled (one-way hashed) form of it, so you can rate each tool once, and its domain, so people at HR software companies can't rate tools. Neither is ever shown. Your stars, role, company size, time using the tool and optional comment are published with the rating, without your name. Ratings that are never confirmed are never published.
- Suggestions and error reports. What you write, the page you came from and, only if you give it, your email so we can reply.
- Vendors. If you sign in to the vendor portal, your work email and sign-in records. To keep listings accurate we email vendors at public business addresses; every email has an unsubscribe link and we stop when asked.
- Usage counts. Anonymous counts of events, such as a stack built or a link shared, with no IP address or identity, to see whether the site is useful.
- Spam protection. Your IP address is held briefly in memory to limit how often forms can be sent, and is not stored.
Cookies and storage in your browser
- Google Analytics sets cookies (named
_gaand_ga_…) and processes your IP address and device details to count visits and show which pages are used. If you are in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, it runs only if you allow it. - A sign-in cookie, only if you sign in to the vendor portal, keeps you signed in. It is needed for the portal to work and isn't used for tracking.
- Your browser's local storage (not cookies, and never sent to us) keeps your chat and stack for 7 days so a refresh picks up where you left off, your compare list, and your cookie choice. "Start over" in the chat clears the conversation; clearing your browser's site data clears everything.
Who processes data for us
- Vercel: hosting the website (servers in the United States).
- Supabase: our database.
- Resend: sending emails such as rating confirmations.
- Anthropic: reading typed chat answers and keeping listings up to date.
- Tavily: web search used to research and check tool listings (no visitor data is sent).
- Google: Analytics, as described above.
Some of these providers process data outside India. We share only what each one needs to do its job, and we never sell data.
How long we keep it
- Chat answers in your browser: 7 days, or until you start over.
- Share links: until you ask us to remove one.
- Ratings: while the tool is listed, or until you ask us to remove yours.
- Suggestions and error reports: until we have dealt with them, then deleted on request.
- Analytics: Google Analytics keeps visit data linked to cookies for 2 months, then deletes it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Email prasad.annauniv@gmail.com and we will reply within 30 days. For a rating, use the email you rated with so we can find it. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to your data protection authority (in India, the Data Protection Board of India).
Children
hrstack is for people choosing HR software at work. It is not meant for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
